For amateurs or experienced surfers our lodging is perfectly located in the middle of the great 6 surf spots that exist in and around Mendihuaca; Los Naranjos, Los Angeles, Hotel Mendihuaca, Casa Grande, El Río Mendihuaca and La Platanera. We are also strategically located near attractions such as Tayrona Park 5minutes / 4km to the west, Ciudad Perdida 10 minutes / 8km east, Buritaca 15 minutes / 14km to the east and Tayronaka or Palomino 30 minutes / 30 km to the east (check the extra activities to know more about this).
*Reservations requested for high season or if the same person reserves 4 or more beds in the dormitories (including the private room) on the same day, 50% of the total reservation must be paid no later than 48 hours before check-in.
FOOD SERVICE
On the beach of Mendihuaca River you will find good amount of places to sit conftable and have a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our recomendations are the restaurant Don Samuel and Restaurant Rancho Puiro, which is right beside our surf school, run by their owners/chefs/fishermans Mr. Samuel and Mr. Wilson and whom creats amazing sea dishes. The best part is that all their sea ingredients are freshly caught, usually hours before by themself together with his fishing team, making it environmental sustainable, base on their traditional fishing techniques, plus you will be suportting the local fishing community directly. TRANSPORT SERVICE: We can organize a transport with a taxi from the city / airport to Mendihuaca Surf, or viceversa or from any part of the Mendihuaca/Tayrona are you wish to move from and to.
ATM’S: It is important to know that there are NO ATM’s in the region! or 1 hour bus ride to any direction. The closest ATM is in Santa Marta city (Buenavista Mall). That’s why we recommend you to take enough cash out in advance. But don´t be worried – you can always pay in Mendihuaca Surf with card 😉
ACOMMODATION CONDITIONS: All our visitors or guests that wish and plan to stay with us have to conform with some of our main conditions. With these conditions we try to inform you about everything as much as possible ;). First of all we have a cat in the surfcamp, however we do not allow other pets staying in the hostel (we still love dogs). Second, we do not have the policies and facilities to acomodate underage guests in our place (we still happily welcome underage students in our surf school). In case you travel with your kids or teenagers we can recommend you another place to stay. Moreover, we do not allow food to be kept in the rooms or storage in the fridge. Next, we do not accept bringing your own liquor into our facilities. Nevertheless, we can always refill your bottle. Besides that because of the strong currents swimming in the sea is only recommend for experienced surfers or capable swimmers. Last but not least, electricity outages can occur from time to time because of the jungle and trees or the tropical sea storms cutting the lines. Fortunately we have a second source of energy which is solar, but only for the highly essential needs in the hostel like WIFI and security
